Strategy and Impact
A Strategic commitment to create safe spaces
We are driven by a bigger, unwavering mission: to protect everyone from gender-based and sexual violence.
We believe everyone has the right to feel safe and empowered anywhere, anytime, protected by
proactive measures and collective action from everyone.
We bring together governments, different stakeholders, civil society, and organizations to develop collaborative solutions and drive real change, unifying partners across different spaces to achieve what no single organization can accomplish alone.
However, obstacles remain:
Complexity: ending GBV involves diverse sectors across government, policy makers, and society.
Under-reporting: rising awareness about rights and laws may widen knowledge gaps.
Disagreements: with nuanced approaches and internal bias hinder collaboration.
Limited resources: prevention efforts remain underserved across communities.
Our work sustains to overcome these obstacles by fostering collaboration, sharing resources, and supporting our communities to drive impactful, unified action.
Impact and Learning
We work closely with different community spaces to strengthen their capacity to create change. Our primary impact is on the people who manage the community we support, and by extension, the impact they create with and for children and young people, in their spaces.
Every community has its unique aspirations and approaches, so our work with each space is unique, tailored, and made possible by trust and understanding of their unique contexts.
We capture global quantitative indicators to capture how organizations change over time, but qualitative stories of change are critical to understanding the impact of our work. Our impact and learning approach are rooted in feedback, participatory learning reviews, and a commitment to capture only the information AWARE and our partners will actually use to deepen our learning and to become more effective in our closely collaborative work.
Our Theory of Change
To maximize our impact, we act as a catalyst for coordinated action, helping individuals safer far more together. Our theory of changes supports us to make a compelling case for action, drives research to understand the impact and future risks and supports pooling knowledge and crafting solutions.
Our Core Work
We drive change across communities through three core initiatives:
Sustained Conversations: Narratives on global trends, sensible approaches and stories of change.
Response Frameworks: Provide practical approaches to guide effective action at a community level, across different spaces.
Creating Champions of Change: Brings together members and key partners to amplify advocacy and foster collaboration.
Our work with different age groups with age-appropriate conversations to convene, collaborate, support and build knowledge to strengthen our collective global response to keep everyone safe. We amplify their work through constant sensitization and awareness with case studies and sharing information, we host sessions and we support research.

Our Impact
At the end of our decade impact and stories of change, we want to deliver impact about four core areas:
Knowledge
Individuals gain insights into the preventive measures and effective responses.
Empowerment
With the increased knowledge, changed attitude and evolved perceptions helps them feel empowered.
Advocacy
Individuals drive impactful, well-resourced actions at their communities leading change on their own.
Individuals engage in collaborative learning, unlearning, leveraging their narrative change.
Collaboration
We prioritize evaluation, shared learning, and evidence-based impact across all objectives to strengthen our collective mission.
