A Strategic commitment to create safe spaces
We are driven by a bigger, unwavering mission:
"To protect everyone from gender-based and sexual violence."
We believe everyone has the right to feel safe and empowered anywhere, anytime, protected by proactive measures and collective action from everyone.
We bring together governments, different stakeholders, civil society organizations and individuals to develop collaborative solutions and drive real change, unifying partners across different spaces to achieve what no single organization can accomplish alone.
However, obstacles remain:
Complexity: ending GBV involves diverse sectors across government, policy makers, and society.
Under-Reporting: rising awareness about rights and laws may widen knowledge gaps.
Disagreements: with nuanced approaches and internal bias hinder collaboration.
Limited Resources: prevention efforts remain underserved across communities.
Our work sustains to overcome these obstacles by fostering collaboration, sharing resources, and supporting our communities to drive impactful, unified action.
Our Theory of Change
The model emphasizes that to change individual behavior, programs need to not only work with individuals, but to also address the systems and groups—peers, families, communities, media, policies—that influence individuals. It also encourages any of our target groups to think about the:
Changes that are needed across all sectors of society
Range of different strategies across different levels of action that will be required to bring about these changes
Roles of different social actors during such changes

Key Components of Our Theory of Change
Values: Our journey begins with our unwavering values, shaping the principles that underpin our work. These core beliefs guide our decisions, actions, and strategies.
Prevention Continuum: We strategically apply our principles across the Prevention Continuum, addressing GBV at multiple stages. This ensures a holistic approach that spans from primary prevention to intervention.
Spectrum of Prevention: Our organizational strategies are informed by the Spectrum of Prevention, a framework that guides us in operating at different levels to create broad and lasting impact.
Protective Factors & Conditions Where Families Thrive: Focusing on enhancing Protective Factors within communities– while also creating conditions where families thrive – is central to our Theory of Change. By reinforcing strengths, resilience, and support networks, we actively contribute to preventing GBV.
Mission & Vision: Our Theory of Change is designed to fulfill our mission of creating safe spaces while strengthening families, organizations, and communities to prevent GBV, with the ultimate vision where everyone feels safe. Each element seamlessly connects, creating a dynamic and purposeful pathway toward creating lasting positive change.
Impact and Learning
We work closely with different community spaces to strengthen their capacity to create change. Our primary impact is on the people who manage the community we support, and by extension, the impact they create with and for children and young people, in their spaces.
Every community has its unique aspirations and approaches, so our work with each space is unique, tailored, and made possible by trust and understanding of their unique contexts.
We capture global quantitative indicators to capture how organizations change over time, but qualitative stories of change are critical to understanding the impact of our work. Our impact and learning approach are rooted in feedback, participatory learning reviews, and a commitment to capture only the information AWARE and our partners will actually use to deepen our learning and to become more effective in our closely collaborative work.

Our Core Work
We drive change across communities through three core initiatives:
Sustained Conversations
Narratives on global trends, sensible approaches and stories of change.

Responsive Frameworks
Provide practical approaches to guide effective action at a community level, across different spaces.
Brings together members and key partners to amplify advocacy and foster collaboration.
Creating Champions of Change

Our work with different groups with age-appropriate conversations to convene, collaborate, support and build knowledge to strengthen our collective global response to keep everyone safe. We amplify this work through constant sensitization and awareness with case studies and sharing information, we host sessions and we support research.
Data-driven Frameworks
One of the crucial pillars in accomplishing our mission lies in our commitment to using data-driven frameworks from global evident-based works done by international organizations. By harnessing the power of data with our local research, we gain valuable insights into the specific needs and challenges facing families and communities. This information allows us to tailor our approach, ensuring that resources and support are directed where they are most needed. It also enables us to measure the impact of our work and make informed adjustments, ultimately leading to more effective and sustainable outcomes.
By incorporating these frameworks into our work, we acknowledge that child well-being is a multi-faceted issue that demands a multi-dimensional response.
